Minutes of the meeting of June 17, 2019

A regular meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Alexandria Township was held on the 17th day of June, 2019 at the Alexandria Township Conference Room, 324 Broadway.

ROLL CALL:  Supervisors present were Jeff Oberg, Joel Dahlheimer, Rod Eldevik, Dennis Butz and Jerry Wright.  Also present were Gregg Raisanen, Clerk, and Mona Billmark, Treasurer.  As said members formed a quorum and the meeting was called to order by Chairman Eldevik at 6:00 p.m.

Oberg, seconded by Dahlheimer, made a motion to adopt the agenda as presented.  Motion carried unanimously.

PLANNING AND ZONING:  The board discussed the Dropik properties. Mr. Dropik provided a note to the board with no timelines for cleanup, as was requested.  Oberg, seconded by Dahlheimer, made a motion to direct Attorney Johnson to send Mr. Dropik a notice that he has until August 1, 2019 to come into compliance with the court order or the township will begin removal of the items after that date.  Motion carried unanimously.

Zoning Administrator Oleson viewed a property on Lake Victoria in relation to a complaint he had received regarding removal of trees.  Mr. Oleson, after review, made the determination that there was no violation according to the township ordinances since the largest tree mass were basswood trees in the process of dying out.

Wright, seconded by Butz, made a motion to approve the minutes of the 6/03/2019 regular board meeting as written.  Motion carried unanimously.

Dahlheimer, seconded by Wright, made a motion to authorize payment of claims 19106 -19113 in the amount of $39,108.00, EFTPS $1,579.04 totaling $40,687.04 and a transfer of funds from savings of $37,000.00.  Motion carried unanimously.

CITIZEN’S CONCERNS:  none

ENGINEER’S REPORT:  Clerk Raisanen reported that Engineer Kuhn will prepare a detailed cost estimate to blacktop Geneva Road. He also reported that he was unable to get an estimate of prior grading costs on the road since the bills are not itemized by roads.

Road maintenance contractor, Alden Just, reported that a portion of 50th Avenue is in bad condition as a result of Central Specialties using it as a haul road.  Chairman Eldevik will contact Engineer Kuhn to contact them

OLD BUSINESS:  Clerk Raisanen reported he had discussed the LAR agreement with Attorney Marc Sugden.  Attorney Sugden advised that the town board has the authority to withdraw from the LAR joint powers agreement and also that the town board could redirect the recreation levy from LAR to the school district if a decision is made to have the school district operate LAR.  Supervisor Oberg expects a formal proposal from the school district at their next LAR meeting.

NEW BUSINESS: none

Being no further business, Dahlheimer, seconded by Oberg, made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Meeting adjourned at 6:40 p.m.
