Minutes of the meeting of March 19, 2018
A Board of Adjustment meeting of Alexandria Township was held on the 19th day of March, 2018, at the Alexandria Township Conference Room, 324 Broadway.
ROLL CALL: Supervisors present were Joel Dahlheimer, Jeff Oberg, Rod Eldevik, Linda Dokken-McFann and Jerry Wright. Also present were Gregg Raisanen, Clerk, and Mona Billmark, Treasurer. As said members formed a quorum and the public hearing and meeting was called to order by Chairman Eldevik at 6:02 p.m.
Chairman Eldevik provided a summary of the variance request submitted by Evan Amundson to subdivide land located within the sanitary district that will be served with a private sewer system. The applicant has a conditional use permit to use the property for a tree trimming business and, in the future, may construct a building with a bathroom. The nearest sewer line is across Hwy. 29 at a considerable distance from the property. The sewer district has not provided any response. Supervisor Oberg asked why this variance is needed since sanitary sewer is not readily available. It is required by ordinance since the property is located within the boundaries of the sanitary district.
Zoning Administrator Oleson provided a list of conditions that the board may want to be considered if the variance is approved. This may be necessary if the property is resold and a different use of the property is being considered with different wastewater generation. The property was rezoned as commercial-rural, which limits the types of businesses that could be located there.
The applicant indicated that the conditions were acceptable.
The public hearing was closed at 6:15 p.m.
