Minutes of the meeting of April 17, 2017
A regular meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Alexandria Township was held on the 17th day of April, 2017 at the Alexandria Township Conference Room, 324 Broadway.
ROLL CALL: Supervisors present were Jeff Oberg, Joel Dahlheimer, Rod Eldevik and Russell Niskanen. Also present was Gregg Raisanen, Clerk, and Mona Billmark, Treasurer. As said members formed a quorum and the meeting was called to order by Chair Eldevik at 6:00 p.m.
Oberg, seconded by Niskanen, made a motion to adopt the agenda with the tabling of a couple of items to the next meeting. Motion carried unanimously.
Niskanen, seconded by Oberg, made a motion to approve the minutes of the 04/03/2017 regular board meeting as written. Motion carried unanimously.
Dahlheimer, seconded by Niskanen, made a motion to authorize payment of claims 17071-17082 in the amount of $12,249.23, EFTPS $1,199.86, totaling $13,449.09. Motion carried unanimously.
PLANNING AND ZONING: The board tabled the planning and zoning items to a future meeting.
OLD BUSINESS: None
NEW BUSINESS: Emily Siira, MNDNR Water Resources, was present to discuss the feasibility of dredging the channel between Lake Victoria and Lake Geneva. Emily explained that the lake associations inquired into dredging last year and provided a copy of a letter that was sent to them last year. She indicated that dredging has not previously been permitted in this channel and the main issue is the sand bar in front of the channel in Lake Geneva. She also indicated that for a permit to be granted, normally the local road authority makes application, in this case Douglas County, and that the area would probably re-fill with sand after dredging. If a permit was issued, all material removed would have to be hauled off site and treated due to the presence of Zebra Mussels in the lake. She also provided a graph showing the lake levels of Lake Geneva.
Clerk Raisanen presented a proposed contract for Animal Services submitted by Alden Just Road Maintenance in the amount of $65/hr. Dahlheimer, seconded by Niskanen, made a motion to contract with Alden Just Road Maintenance for Animal Control Services for the period of April 17,2017- April 16, 2018. Motion carried unanimously.
Clerk Raisanen reported that he is appointing Bonnie Fulghum as Deputy Clerk.
Being no further business, Niskanen, seconded by Dahlheimer, made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Meeting adjourned at 6:33 p.m.
