CITIZEN’S CONCERNS: none

PLANNING AND ZONING:  Zoning Administrator Oleson reported that he had received payment for the after-the-fact permit fee from the dog grooming business. Oleson also reported he had made contact with the owners of the daycare business on Hazel Hill Road informing them that the business sign for their business is not in compliance with the sign ordinance due to its size. To be in compliance, they need to reduce the size and obtain a $100 sign permit or they will need to apply for a conditional use permit at a cost of $400. The board was in consensus to have Zoning Administrator Oleson contact the owners once more indicating that if they do not come into compliance by the board’s next meeting, the matter will be referred to the township attorney.

Oleson reported that the owners of the Broken Arrow resort are moving forward with the selling of cabins in the resort. They had applied and were approved for a conditional use permit in 2011 for this purpose and did not proceed because of the economic downturn. They are proposing the same plan and would like to proceed under the same terms and conditions as approved in the 2011 application. Niskanen, seconded by Hammerschmidt, made a motion to permit the sale of cabins in the Broken Arrow resort which was previously permitted in the 2011 conditional use application. Motion carried unanimously.

ENGINEER’S REPORT: The board discussed the proposed reconstruction and paving of Neewana Beach Road. Feuling, seconded by Hammerschmidt, made a motion to have Township Engineer Kuhn complete the design of the proposed reconstruction and paving of Neewana Beach Road. Motion carried unanimously.

NEW BUSINESS: Clerk Raisanen reported the winter road maintenance contract will terminate at the end of March. Niskanen, seconded by Hammerschmidt, made a motion to authorize Clerk Raisanen to advertise for written quotes for the 2015 summer road maintenance. Motion carried unanimously.

The board will schedule road inspections at the next board meeting.

Being no further business, Feuling, seconded by Niskanen, made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Meeting adjourned at 6:40 p.m.

Respectfully submitted….
