Minutes of the meeting of June 2, 2014
A regular meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Alexandria Township was held on the 2nd day of June, 2014 at the Alexandria Township Conference Room, 610 Fillmore Street.
ROLL CALL: Supervisors present were Bryon Alstead, Lyle Hammerschmidt and Joel Dahlheimer. Also present were Gregg Raisanen, Clerk, and Mona Billmark, Treasurer. As said members formed a quorum and the meeting was called to order by Chairman Alstead at 6:00 p.m.
Hammerschmidt, seconded by Dahlheimer, made a motion to adopt the agenda as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
Hammerschmidt, seconded by Dahlheimer, made a motion to approve the minutes of the 05/19/2014 regular board meeting as written. Motion carried unanimously.
Dahlheimer, seconded by Hammerschmidt, made a motion to authorize payment of claims 14116 – 14124 in the amount of $23,469.05, net payroll of $3,610.45 for a total of $27,079.50 and a transfer of funds from savings in the amount of $23,000.00. Motion carried unanimously.

PLANNING AND ZONING: none
ENGINEER’S REPORT: Clerk Raisanen reported the graveling is scheduled to be completed this week.
Supervisor Dahlheimer reported we had received a resident inquiry about a ditch being filled in on E. Burgen Road. The board instructed Administrative Assistant Fulghum to draft a letter to the resident informing him that working and/or storing anything in the right of way is not allowed per township policy.
OLD BUSINESS: Clerk Raisanen reported he has not yet had a response from the MAT attorneys regarding ATV regulations. Discussion tabled.
Raisanen also reported Matt Zimmerman has indicated his desire to gift the property on Neewana Beach Road to the township. Township Attorney Johnson will draft an agreement.
Consensus was to table discussion on the annexation agreement until the other board members are present.
NEW BUSINESS: Clerk Raisanen reported we had received a quote from Alden Just Road Maintenance for the purchase of calcium chloride in the amount of $1.08/gal. He stated the county’s price this year from Tri-State was $.963/gal. He noted that Alden Just has product on-hand for repeated applications; the county provides one application only per season. Dahlheimer, seconded by Hammerschmidt, made a motion to contract with Alden Just Road Maintenance for calcium chloride for the quoted price. Motion carried unanimously.
Raisanen is in the process of contacting people to serve as election judges and scheduling training.
Being no further business, Hammerschmidt, seconded by Dahlheimer, made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Meeting adjourned at 7:34 p.m.
