An emergency meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Alexandria Township was held on the 5th Day of December 2007 at the Alexandria Township Office, 610 Fillmore Street. The emergency meeting was called by Chairman Thalman to address health, safety, and welfare concerns of the residents of the township regarding snowplowing.

ROLL CALL: Supervisors present were Bryon Alstead, Joel Dahlheimer, Jim Casper, Louis Ross, and Roger Thalman. Also present was Clerk Gregg Raisanen. As said members formed a quorum and the meeting was called to order by Chairman Thalman at 5:34 PM.

Chairman Thalman reported that the contractor had completed a better job on some roads in the township after the snow event on Tuesday, December 4, 2007; however, he found little evidence of sanding. He indicated that he drove the Broken Arrow subdivision before the meeting and noticed that Pawnee Drive only had one side of the road that was winged.

Supervisor Alstead reported that Administrative Assistant Fulghum had contacted him that a resident had called reporting that the school bus could not turnaround at the end of W. Lake Jessie Drive. He expressed concern about the width of roads specifically Southside Drive. He also reported that the roads in Twilight Acres had not been adequately plowed to the proper width.

Supervisor Dahlheimer reported that he had driven a number of the gravel roads in the township and was not satisfied with the width and quality of the plowing. He reported that the contractor was plowing at 8:30 AM on Golf Course Drive however had not plowed the portion of E. Geneva Drive inside the subdivision by this time. In addition, one side of Liberty road had not been plowed recently by 8:30 AM. He reported that he had visited Canyon Contracting on Wednesday morning and observed two trucks. One truck was recently purchased the night before. When he asked to see evidence of salt/sand, he only saw evidence of one small pile.

Supervisor Casper reported that he had received a ½ dozen calls primarily from residents located on Island Drive and Lakecrest Drive. He reported that he had spoken with an Ida Township supervisor who indicated that the Ida Township Board would not work with Canyon Contracting anymore as a result of their summer road contracts. In addition, when Canyon Contracting was being considered for the bid for road maintenance, Jim Waldorf was not representing Canyon Contracting but is an employee of another company.

Supervisor Ross reported that District 206 had contracted him about the road intersections and the inability of school buses to navigate properly.

Ross, seconded by Alstead, made a motion to authorize Supervisor Dahlheimer and Clerk Raisanen to talk to other contractors including the county to determine if they are available to complete the maintenance contract.
