Minutes of the meeting of November 7, 2016

A regular meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Alexandria Township was held on the 7th day of November, 2016 at the Alexandria Township Conference Room, 324 Broadway.

ROLL CALL: Supervisors present were Jul Feuling, Joel Dahlheimer and Rod Eldevik. Also present were Gregg Raisanen, Clerk, and Mona Billmark, Treasurer. As said members formed a quorum and the meeting was called to order by Chair Feuling at 6:00 p.m.

Eldevik, seconded by Dahlheimer, made a motion to adopt the agenda as presented. Motion carried unanimously.

Dahlheimer, seconded by Eldevik, made a motion to approve the minutes of the 10/17/2016 regular board meeting as written. Motion carried unanimously.

Eldevik, seconded by Dahlheimer, made a motion to authorize payment of claims 16210-16223 in the amount of $41,563.36, net payroll $3,860.03, totaling $45,423.39 with a transfer from savings of $35,000. Motion carried unanimously.

CITIZEN’S CONCERNS: none

PLANNING AND ZONING: Zoning Administrator Oleson presented a draft of the new Nuisance Ordinance for the board’s review. He relayed the township attorney’s concerns regarding Section 8. Eldevik, seconded by Dahlheimer, made a motion to schedule a public hearing for the next town meeting of November 21, 2016. Motion carried unanimously.

Chair Feuling reported that the zoning subcommittee had discussed a junk amnesty day. They had met with a representative from Alex Rubbish to determine the steps needed to accomplish this endeavor. Consensus by the board to table further discussion until the next meeting when all board members are present.

Oleson reported that Al Beisner had submitted an application to consolidate four lots into an outlot in the Geneva Estates area off Liberty Road. Since this is considered a minor subdivision, the application needs only administrative review.

ENGINEER’S REPORT: none

OLD BUSINESS: none

NEW BUSINESS: Clerk Raisanen reported that the township had received one quote for salt/sand. Alden Just Road Maintenance quoted $46.25 per cubic yard ($33.04/ton) for salt/sand and $240/ton for extra salt. He noted that the county did not yet have their 2016-2017 pricing but they anticipate only a slight increase over last year’s pricing ($28.33/ton for salt/sand and $85.83/ton for extra salt). Eldevik, seconded by Dahlheimer, made a motion to approve the purchase of salt/sand from Alden Just Road Maintenance at the quoted rate of $46.25/cubic yard. Motion carried unanimously. Action on the extra salt was tabled for further information.

Being no further business, Eldevik, seconded by Feuling, made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Meeting adjourned at 6:35 p.m.
