Minutes of the meeting of September 17, 2018
A regular meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Alexandria Township was held on the 17th day of September, 2018 at the Alexandria Township Conference Room, 324 Broadway.
ROLL CALL: Supervisors present were Jeff Oberg, Joel Dahlheimer, Rod Eldevik, Linda Dokken-McFann, and Jerry Wright. Also present was Gregg Raisanen, Clerk. As said members formed a quorum and the meeting was called to order by Chairman Eldevik at 6:00 p.m.
Dahlheimer, seconded by Dokken-McFann, made a motion to adopt the agenda with the addition of a tree along Maple Drive under New Business. Motion carried unanimously.
Wright, seconded by Oberg, made a motion to approve the minutes of the 9/05/2018 regular board meeting as written. Motion carried unanimously.
Oberg, seconded by Dahlheimer, made a motion to authorize payment of claims 18193 – 18197 in the amount of $10,244.63, EFTPS $1,560.31 totaling $11,804.94 and a transfer of funds from savings of $5,000.00. Motion carried unanimously.
CITIZEN’S CONCERNS: none
PLANNING AND ZONING: Clerk Raisanen reported the concrete barriers between two properties along Hazel Hill Road that the board requested be moved have been removed by the landowner and a chain link fence has been installed.
ENGINEER’S REPORT: Engineer Kuhn provided cost estimates for future overlay projects: Crestwood Drive- $235,000.00, Maple Drive- 157,000.00, and Pawnee East and Sioux Lane- $55,000.00
OLD BUSINESS: none
NEW BUSINESS: Clerk Raisanen reported that requests for proposals have been published for winter road maintenance and one written proposal has been submitted by Alden Just Road Maintenance. The proposal met all the specifications required in the RFP. The following quotes were submitted: Grading of gravel roads with a road grader- $90.00/hr., Plowing of snow with motor grader and truck- $90.00/hr., Sanding of roads- $80.00/hr., and Misc. maintenance-$35.00/hr. per person. Dahlheimer, seconded by Dokken-McFann, made a motion to accept the written quote submitted by Alden Just Road Maintenance and contract for winter road maintenance for the period of Oct. 1, 2018 – March 31, 2019. Motion carried unanimously.
The board discussed the turnarounds at the end of Queens Road and E. Lake Jessie Road. The school district transportation office has expressed concern about the ability of buses to turn around during winter. Supervisor Dahlheimer and Alden Just will view and make improvements that are permitted in the area.
Chairman Eldevik discussed the tree in the road right of way along Maple Drive on the corner. Alden Just will remove since it is in the road right of way.
Being no further business, Dahlheimer, seconded by Oberg, made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Meeting adjourned at 6:15 p.m.
