Minutes of the meeting of May 30, 2023
A special meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Alexandria Township was held on the 30th day of May, 2023 at the Alexandria Township Conference Room, 324 Broadway. The special meeting was called to review proposed changes to the Alexandria Township Zoning Ordinance and the Comprehensive Land Use Plan.
ROLL CALL: Supervisors present were Rod Eldevik, Dennis Butz, Jeff Oberg, Jerry Wright, and Joel Dahlheimer. Also present was Gregg Raisanen, Clerk. As said members formed a quorum and the meeting was called to order by Chairman Eldevik at 6:00 PM.
Zoning Administrator Oleson provided a summary of proposed amendments to the zoning ordinance which include changes to permitted uses in different zoning districts, regulation of shouse construction, restriction of the placement of cargo containers, permitted zoning districts for light manufacturing, and other changes that are in alignment to recent changes made by Douglas County.
The board reviewed the proposed definition of a shouse and also where they would be permitted in the future. The board was in consensus that shouse construction should be permitted in areas where they are consistent with the character of the neighborhood and prohibited in other areas.
The board discussed the permitted placement of cargo containers in the future. Current regulations require a land use permit with no other restrictions. The board was in consensus to restrict cargo container placement to a few zoning districts and to limit the size of the lot they are being placed on.
The board reviewed the proposed changes to permitted areas for light manufacturing. Currently, the only zoning districts permitted for light manufacturing is commercial urban, commercial rural, and industrial districts.
The board will consider proposed changes to the comprehensive land use plan at its next meeting.
Being no further business, Dahlheimer, seconded by Wright, made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Meeting adjourned at 8:30 PM.
