Minutes of the Local Board of Appeals and Equalization
April 11, 2024
The Local Board of Appeals and Equalization meeting was held on the 11th day of April, 2024 at the Douglas County Courthouse, Conference Room C.
ROLL CALL: Supervisors present were Joel Dahlheimer, Rod Eldevik, Jeff Oberg and Jerry Wright. Also present was Mark Meuwissen, Clerk. Said members formed a quorum and the meeting was called to order by Chairman Eldevik at 9:00 a.m.
The purpose of the Local Board of Appeals and Equalization is to provide a fair and objective forum for property owners to appeal their valuation of classification and for the Board to determine whether property in the jurisdiction has been properly valued and classified by the Assessor.
Appellants: None
Chairman Eldevik turned the meeting over to County Assessor Stacy Honkomp and Steve Christensen, the township’s contracted assessor, to discuss the assessment process and notable trends. For the township, assessed values went up 6.9% with the largest increases in lake shore properties and agricultural land. New construction was valued at just over 15 million dollars.
Having reviewed assessed values and classifications, the Board had no further questions. Wright, seconded by Oberg, made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Motion passed unanimously and Eldevik adjourned the meeting at 9:40 a.m.
