Minutes of the meeting of November 16, 2015
A regular meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Alexandria Township was held on the 16th day of November, 2015 at the Alexandria Township Conference Room, 324 Broadway.
ROLL CALL: Supervisors present were Jul Feuling, Jeff Oberg, Joel Dahlheimer, Rod Eldevik and Russell Niskanen. Also present were Gregg Raisanen, Clerk, and Mona Billmark, Treasurer. As said members formed a quorum and the meeting was called to order by Chair Feuling at 6:00 p.m.
Eldevik, seconded by Niskanen, made a motion to adopt the agenda as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
Oberg, seconded by Niskanen, made a motion to approve the minutes of the 10/19/2015 regular board meeting as written. Motion carried unanimously.
Niskanen, seconded by Eldevik, made a motion to authorize payment of claims 15227-15230 in the amount of $4,197.87, EFTPS of $924.69 totaling $5,122.56 and a transfer of funds from savings in the amount of $5,000.00. Motion carried unanimously.
CITIZEN’S CONCERNS: none
PLANNING AND ZONING: The board discussed the situation regarding livestock roaming on public roads and it was agreed that these situations need to be referred to the County Sheriff’s office since state law currently has statutes controlling this. Clerk Raisanen will contact the Sheriff.
ENGINEER’S REPORT: None
OLD BUSINESS: Tyler Goldberg, Cypersprout was present to discuss details of his proposal for a new township website and for continued hosting and maintenance on the new site. Feuling, seconded by Dahlheimer, made a motion to contract with Cypersprout for website development at a cost of $2,400.00 and for website maintenance and hosting in the amount of $49.00/month. Motion carried unanimously.
NEW BUSINESS: The board reviewed Schedule1, statement of receipts, disbursements, and balances. Clerk Raisanen reported that as of November 16, revenue and expenses were in line with the 2015 approved budget with the exception of the roads and bridge account because of the added Neewana Beach Road reconstruction project. The board also reviewed the preliminary 2016 budget as recommended by the budget committee. Eldevik, seconded by Niskanen, made a motion to adopt the 2016 budget in the amount of $812,218.00. Motion carried unanimously.
Clerk Raisanen presented a written quote provided by Alden Just Road Maintenance for road salt/sand. Alden Just Road Maintenance quoted Salt/Sand at $42.90 per cubic yard which equates to $30.64/ton with an extra cost of extra salt in the amount of $210/ton. Douglas County’s price for salt/sand is $28.33/ton; however the township would have to pick up and store for this price. Dahlheimer, seconded by Eldevik, made a motion to accept the written quote submitted by Alden Just Road Maintenance in the amount of $42.90/yd3 for salt sand. Motion carried unanimously.
Being no further business, Dahlheimer, seconded by Eldevik, made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Meeting adjourned at 7:00 p.m.
