Minutes of the meeting of December 2, 2024

A regular meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Alexandria Township was held on the 2nd day of December, 2024 at the Alexandria Township Conference Room, 324 Broadway and via teleconference.

ROLL CALL:  Supervisors present were Jeff Oberg, Joel Dahlheimer, Rod Eldevik, Dennis Butz and Jerry Wright.  Also present were Mark Meuwissen, Clerk, and Mona Billmark, Treasurer.  As said members formed a quorum and the meeting was called to order by Chairman Eldevik at 6:00 p.m.

Oberg, seconded by Dahlheimer, made a motion to adopt the agenda with the addition of E. Lake Geneva Road neighborhood concern under Engineer’s Report.  Motion carried unanimously.

Oberg, seconded by Dahlheimer, made a motion to approve the minutes of the 11/18/24 regular board meeting as written.  Motion carried unanimously.

Dahlheimer, seconded by Wright, made a motion to authorize payment of claims 24226 – 24238 in the amount of $32,116.09, net payroll $ 7,886.56 totaling $40,002.65 and a transfer of funds from savings of $40,000.00.  Motion carried unanimously.

CITIZEN’S CONCERNS:  none

PLANNING AND ZONING:  none

ENGINEER’S REPORT:  Supervisor Wright reported he had received an unsigned letter from residents in the E. Lake Geneva Road NE neighborhood regarding an individual who appears to be running a business out of his home.  The letter alleges there are up to 2 – 3 large trucks in the driveway at any given time.  Wright stated the individual in question has been working on a landscaping project for his parents throughout the summer and the work should be concluded sometime in the spring.  At the conclusion of the work, the truck situation will become a non-issue.  Consensus to re-visit in the spring if needed.

OLD BUSINESS:  none

NEW BUSINESS: Tim Erickson, Douglas County Engineer, was present to discuss the county’s long-range planning for projects affecting the township.  The breakdown of potential projects affecting the township is as follows:

  • Building interstate ramps on County Road 17. Anticipated date to commence with this project is 2033.
  • Since 50th Avenue will become a corridor, Mr. Erickson suggested the county take over this road before building the ramps off County Road 17. He has already contacted Hudson Township and they did not appear to object. Anticipated date for this turnover would be 2030 or 2031.  No exchange of roads would be required.
  • Erickson noted In his 5-year plan that the county would be widening County Road 23 from Busch Road SE to County Road 81 (Hazel Hill Road SE`).
  • A public hearing has been scheduled for December 17, 2024 at 9 a.m. in the Board Room at the County Administration Building located at 821 Cedar Street to discuss future county projects.

Clerk Meuwissen reported the town had received a new proposal from Hometown Planning for zoning administration services for 2025. Their current contract expires at the end of the year. They are proposing a rate of $4,855 / month. Oberg, seconded by Dahlheimer, made a motion to approve the proposal presented by Hometown Planning for 2025 at the rate stated above.

Being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:55 p.m..
