The board was in consensus to send landowners a letter notifying them that they are in violation of state law and to stop the practice.
PLANNING AND ZONING: The board discussed a possible variance application for a property located off Island Drive. The owner is proposing to construct a home and will be unable to meet the required setbacks from the road due to the shape of the lot and the requirement that homes be 24 ft. in width. The owner will contact ALASD to determine if there is a sewer stub for the property and stated he intends to apply for a variance from the township.
Zoning Administrator Oleson requested that the future dates for the Board of Adjustment be moved from the 3rd Monday of the month to the first. The board was in consensus to move the BOA dates starting in March.
OLD BUSINESS: Clerk Raisanen presented a copy of a request for recreation funding for 2020 from the community education director of Alexandria Public Schools in the amount of $15,576.00. Both Chair Eldevik and Supervisor Oberg, who were members of the LAR board before it was dissolved, reported that the school district told the board that they would not need any funding in the future from the townships. Wight, seconded by Oberg, made a motion to not fund community education in 2020. Motion carried unanimously.
Clerk Raisanen reported the city inquired if the YMCA would provide lifeguards at LeHomme Dieu beach this summer. The board will consider funding for 2020 if a contract is reached.
