Minutes of the meeting of July 18, 2016
A Board of Adjustment meeting of Alexandria Township was held on the 18th day of July, 2016 at the Alexandria Township Conference Room, 324 Broadway.
Chair Feuling opened the meeting at 6:02 PM.
ROLL CALL: Supervisors present were Jul Feuling, Joel Dahlheimer, Rod Eldevik and Russell Niskanen. Also present were Gregg Raisanen, Clerk, and Mona Billmark, Treasurer.
Zoning Administrator Oleson presented the variance request submitted by Ryan Grewe, 1185 Vinland Strait, NE to construct a dwelling approximately 23.5 feet from the road right-of-way.
The lot is large enough to meet the required setbacks but because the lot is located on a curve it results in creating an unusual setback and, if the home was constructed to meet the required setback, it would not be in alignment with adjacent homes and would obstruct views.
Ryan Grewe reiterated the summary provided by Zoning Administrator Oleson. He said that he wants his new home to be in alignment with the other homes in the neighborhood. Tom Haase, 1181 Vinland Strait, spoke that he had no objection to the request from Mr. Grewe.
Supervisor Niskanen reported that because of the shape of the lot, it provided a practical difficulty. Supervisor Eldevik indicated that by moving the driveway and approving the variance, it would result in less impervious surface on the lot.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:10 PM.
