Alexandria Township
Alexandria, Minnesota 56308
Minutes of the meeting of April 19, 2010
A regular meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Alexandria Township was held on the 19th day of April, 2010 at the Alexandria Township Conference Room, 610 Fillmore Street.
ROLL CALL: Supervisors present were Bryon Alstead, Louis Ross, Jul Feuling, Joel Dahlheimer and Roger Thalman. Also present were Gregg Raisanen, Clerk, and Mona Billmark, Treasurer. As said members formed a quorum and the meeting was called to order by Chairman Thalman at 6:00 p.m.
Ross, seconded by Alstead, made a motion to adopt the agenda as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
Alstead, seconded by Dahlheimer, made a motion to approve the minutes of the 04/05/10 regular board meeting as written. Motion carried unanimously.
Dahlheimer, seconded by Alstead, made a motion to authorize payment of claims 10100-10115 in the amount of $8,846.15, net payroll of $1,482.22, for a total of $10,328.37. Motion carried unanimously.
CITIZEN’S CONCERNS: none
PLANNING AND ZONING: The board discussed the Douglas County Land and Resource Report. Total home building permits in 2009 were 60 compared to 250 in 2008.
ENGINEER’S REPORT: Engineer Kuhn reported that he had spoken with the City of Alexandria regarding Kurt Street. None of the street is within the boundaries of the city. He estimated that it would cost approximately $40,000.00 to grind off the existing blacktop and repave the road surface. The board authorized Engineer Kuhn to prepare a group of projects including Kurt St. for their consideration at a future meeting.
Engineer Kuhn reported that there is no sewer installed along Neewana Beach Road. The board was in consensus to not pursue paving this road at the present time.
The board discussed the petition to pave Remington Road. This road does not have sanitary sewer installed and the estimated cost to pave the road would be $140,000. Since it only serves 9 properties, the estimated assessment to each parcel would exceed $9,000/parcel, which would probably be greater than the increase in market value, which would prohibit it from being an assessment project.
The board discussed the turnaround on Piephos Lane, which is being blocked by a private vehicle. Supervisor Dahlheimer will speak to the landowner.
OLD BUSINESS: none
NEW BUSINESS: Alstead, seconded by Dahlheimer, designated Clerk Raisanen to review the 2009 financial audit draft. Motion carried unanimously.
Ross, seconded by Dahlheimer, made a motion to appoint Jeff Patience as the Alexandria Township Representative to serve the remainder of the term vacated by David Kjos to the Alexandria Area Economic Development Commission. Motion carried unanimously.
Engineer Kuhn reported that he had received one gravel quote. He was directed to obtain a second quote for the board’s consideration.
Being no further business, Fueling, seconded by Dahlheimer, made a motion to adjourn the meeting.
Meeting adjourned at 6:40 p.m.
Respectfully submitted….
