Minutes of the meeting of November 21, 2022

A regular meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Alexandria Township was held on the 21st day of November, 2022 at the Alexandria Township Conference Room, 324 Broadway and via teleconference.

ROLL CALL:  Supervisors present were Jeff Oberg, Joel Dahlheimer, Rod Eldevik, Dennis Butz and Jerry Wright.  Also present were Gregg Raisanen, Clerk, with Mona Billmark, Treasurer, attending remotely.  As said members formed a quorum and the meeting was called to order by Chairman Eldevik at 6:00 p.m.

Butz, seconded by Dahlheimer, made a motion to adopt the agenda as presented.  Motion carried unanimously.

Wright, seconded by Butz, made a motion to approve the minutes of the 11/07/22 regular board meeting as written.  Motion carried unanimously.

Dahlheimer, seconded by Wright, made a motion to authorize payment of claims 22210 – 22227 in the amount of $317,083.15, EFTPS $1,575.58, Net Payroll $775.74, totaling $319,434.47 and a transfer of $315,000.00 from the saving account into checking account.  Motion carried unanimously.

CITIZEN’S CONCERNS: none

PLANNING AND ZONING:  Zoning Administrator Oleson reported that the scheduled vehicle removal from the Dropik property on Newman Road was canceled since the landowner removed most of the vehicles from the property.  The board was in consensus to notify the landowner that if new vehicles arrive on the property in violation of the court order, they will be removed immediately without any notice.  Chair Eldevik will contact the removal company and set up a retainer agreement to ensure their availability for removal.

Zoning Administrator Oleson provided an update on the property located at 3960 Airway Lane that was recently excavated.  Erosion control has been installed along the majority of the perimeter, and most of the boat lifts, with the exception of 4, have been removed.  Three of the boat lifts were the personal property of the landowner.  Oleson will contact the landowner on the status of the remaining erosion control that needs to be installed.

ENGINEER’S REPORT:  none

OLD BUSINESS: none

NEW BUSINESS:  Clerk Raisanen reported he had received an engagement proposal for the 2022 financial audit from Carlson SV in the amount of $7,400.00.   Treasurer Billmark and Clerk Raisanen have been pleased working with them previously.  Wright, seconded by Butz, made a motion to accept the proposal submitted by Carlson SV for the township’s 2022 financial audit in an amount not to exceed $7,400.00.  Motion carried unanimously.

Clerk Raisanen reported that both the treasurer’s and the office administrator’s computers are in need of replacement.  He has researched prices for new desktop computers and both should be able to be replaced for approximately $1,500.00.  Dahlheimer, seconded by Oberg, made a motion to authorize Clerk Raisanen to purchase two new computers for the township. Motion carried unanimously.

Clerk Raisanen received two quotes for salt/sand and salt.  Alden Just Road Maintenance quoted $48.00/cubic yard for salt/sand and $215.00/ton for salt.  Douglas County quoted $26.63/ton for salt sand and $105.40/ton for salt.  The township would be responsible for picking up and storing.  Dahlheimer, seconded by Oberg, made a motion to accept the quote for salt and salt/sand submitted by Alden Just Road Maintenance.  Motion carried unanimously.

Being no further business, Dahlheimer, seconded by Oberg, made a motion to adjourn the meeting.  Meeting adjourned at 6:45 p.m.
