October 20, 2008 Meeting Minutes

A meeting of the Board of Adjustment of

Alexandria Township was held on the 20

th

Day of

October 2008 at the Alexandria Townsh

ip Conference Room, 610 Fillmore Street.

ROLL CALL: Members present were Louis Ross, Bryon Alstead, Jim Casper, Joel Dahlheimer,

and Roger Thalman. Also present were Clerk Gregg Raisanen. As said members formed a

quorum and the meeting was called to order by Clerk Raisanen at 6:30 PM.

Alstead, seconded by Dahlheimer, made a motion to approve the minutes of the 10-15-2007 and

The 9-15-2008 board of adjustment meetings as written. Motion carried unanimously.

Diane Zeithhamer, Exterior Design, reported that her company was issued a $500.00 after-the-fact

fee for work that was completed at the Kosin residence. She indicated that she had applied for a

permit on August 26, 2008

and paid a $75.00 fee to replace a retaining wall within a shoreline

area. She indicated that the administrator assist

ant indicated that zoning administrator Oleson

would be contacting her for any additional informa

tion within a couple of days. Her company did

not hear from zoning administrator Oleson within

a couple of days and her company preceded to c

complete the work. She indicated that when sh

e filled out the application, she was not notified

that it might take up to five days to process

the permit application and to not begin work until

notified. She indicated that when she applies for a permit with Douglas County, the land and

resource department reviews the application and i

ssues a cardboard permit to post at the job site.

Mr. Oleson reported that he had trouble cont

acting her company and finally contacted the

landowner who indicated that the work was completed.

Ross, seconded by Casper, made a motion to waive the after-the-fact fee assessed to Exterior

Design for the permit to complete work at the

Kosin property since the applicant acted in good

faith and applied for the permit. Motion for:

Alstead, Ross, Casper, Dahlheimer, Thalman.

Motion against: None. Motion carried.

Alstead, seconded by Ross, made a motion to adjourn. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at

6:55PM.
