Minutes of the meeting of September 19, 2016
A regular meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Alexandria Township was held on the 19th day of September, 2016 at the Alexandria Township Conference Room, 324 Broadway.
ROLL CALL: Supervisors present were Jul Feuling, Jeff Oberg, Joel Dahlheimer, Rod Eldevik and Russell Niskanen. Also present were Gregg Raisanen, Clerk and Mona Billmark, Treasurer. As said members formed a quorum and the meeting was called to order by Chair Feuling at 6:00 p.m.
Niskanen, seconded by Eldevik, made a motion to adopt the agenda with the discussion of roadside trash under new business. Motion carried unanimously.
Oberg, seconded by Niskanen, made a motion to approve the minutes of the 09/07/2016 regular board meeting as written. Motion carried unanimously.
Niskanen, seconded by Eldevik, made a motion to authorize payment of claims 16187 – 16191 in the amount of $2,360.43, EFTPS $1,508.94, totaling $3,869.37. Motion carried unanimously.
CITIZEN’S CONCERNS: none
PLANNING AND ZONING: Chair Feuling reported that the zoning subcommittee had met to discuss the portions of the zoning ordinance related to “junk” and will be finalizing a proposed ordinance and recommended that a public hearing be scheduled in the near future.
ENGINEER’S REPORT: Clerk Raisanen will check with Engineer Kuhn to ask if he had received any information from the Department of Transportation for the speed study on Liberty Road.
NEW BUSINESS: Clerk Raisanen reported that we had advertised for quotes for winter road maintenance and received one quotation from Alden Just Road Maintenance. Alden Just quoted the following amounts for maintenance: Grading roads with a motor grader- $87.00/hr., Plowing snow with motor grader and truck- $87.00/hr., Sanding of roads- $78.00/hr., sign installation, other maintenance- $34.00/hr./worker. Fuel surcharge of $1.00/hr. for every $0.12/gallon increase above the base fuel rate $2.139. Dahlheimer, seconded by Eldevik, made a motion to accept the quote submitted by Alden Just Road Maintenance at the amounts submitted. Motion carried unanimously.
Clerk Raisanen recommended the following individuals to serve as election judges for the upcoming general election: Darlene O’Brien, Verla Schwendemann, Barb Sather, Cindy Lund, Mona Billmark, Paul Stennes, Marie Mertin, Jan Anderson, Emma Ziegler, Gregg Raisanen. Eldevik, seconded by Niskanen, made a motion to appoint the election judges recommended by Clerk Raisanen for the general election. Motion carried unanimously.
Being no further business, Eldevik, seconded by Dahlheimer, made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Meeting adjourned at 6:25 p.m.
