A regular meeting of the Planning Commission of Alexandria Township was held on the 27th day of February, 2012 at the Alexandria Township Conference Room, 610 Fillmore Street.
Roll Call: Commission members present were Julie Haar, Larry Steidl, Roger Thalman and Lyle Hammerschmidt. Also present were Bonnie Fulghum, Deputy Clerk, and Ben Oleson, Township Zoning Administrator. As said members formed a quorum and the meeting was called to order by Deputy Clerk Fulghum at 6:00 p.m.
Deputy Clerk Fulghum called for nominations for vice-chair. Motion by Steidl, seconded by Thalman, to nominate Lyle Hammerschmidt. Seeing there were no other nominations, a motion was made by Thalman, seconded by Haar, to cease nominations. A vote was cast for Lyle Hammerschmidt as vice-chairman. Commissioner Hammerschmidt abstained.
The meeting was turned over to Vice-Chairman Hammerschmidt.
Agenda: Steidl, seconded by Haar, made a motion to approve the agenda as written. Motion carried unanimously.
Minutes: Haar, seconded by Steidl, made a motion to approve the minutes of the 1/23/2012 meeting as written. Motion carried. Commissioner Thalman abstained.
Public Hearing: none
New Business: none
Old Business: The commission reviewed the end-of-the year ordinance updates. These updates comprised revisions for the fish house/dark house and livestock definitions; establishing three categories of regulations affecting small animals (those not covered under the existing small animal ordinance); and the establishment of a beekeeping ordinance.
The commission decided to commence with a public hearing on the ordinance updates and scheduled it for the March meeting. They also directed Zoning Administrator Oleson to contact the county extension office to inquire as to their availability for the next meeting/public hearing.

The commission completed the training session on septic systems.
Adjournment: Being no further business Steidl, seconded by Thalman, made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Meeting adjourned at 7:42 p.m.
