Minutes: Steinbrecher, seconded by Haar, made a motion to approve the minutes of the 10/28/2019 meeting as written. Motion carried unanimously.
Zoning Administrator’s Report: Zoning Administrator Oleson provided an update of zoning activity.
Old Business: Chairman Steidl provided an update on the projected County Road 17 exit off I-94. He said that after studies had been concluded, the decision was made to put the exit off Pioneer Road with a rest area that would service both east and westbound traffic, replacing the existing Latoka rest stop. The project is anticipated to start in 2024.
Discussion on the future land use map amendments was tabled until the next meeting.
New Business: Oleson to prepare a draft erosion plan which would encompass anything that would expose vulnerable bare land; i.e. bluffs, steep slopes, etc.
Oleson stated the town will need to update their sign ordinance to correct a conflict in regulation. Signs were added to the list of conditional uses allowed in the Commercial and Industrial zoning districts and was inadvertently not removed under prohibited uses.
Oleson also reported that the county had enacted an ordinance for renewable energy and the township, by default, automatically adopts their ordinance by reference. He felt that the township may wish to incorporate that ordinance into our own township ordinance.
Consensus to hold one public hearing in the spring to address all proposed changes to the zoning ordinance.
Oleson informed the commission he had a conflict for their regularly scheduled meeting of March 23rd. Consensus to move the March planning commission meeting to Monday, March 30th.
Adjournment: Being no further business Haar, seconded by Steinbrecher, made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
Respectfully submitted…
