May 22, 2006 Meeting Minutes

A regular meeting of the Planning Commission of Alexandria Township was held on the 22nd day of May, 2006.

ROLL CALL: Commission members present were John Knowles, Larry Steidl and Lyle Hammerschmidt. Also present was Bonnie Fulghum, Deputy Clerk. As said members formed a quorum and the meeting was called to order by Chairman Knowles at 7:00 p.m.

Steidl, seconded by Hammerschmidt, made a motion to approve the agenda as presented. Motion carried unanimously.

Steidl, seconded by Knowles, made a motion to approve the minutes of the 02/27/06 meeting as written. Motion carried unanimously.

OLD BUSINESS: Chairman Knowles asked for a consensus amongst the commission members regarding the cancellation of the normally scheduled March and April meetings. A draft of the plan had been sent to various agencies; thus, there was no activity required on behalf of the commission while awaiting responses. Consensus reached.

Chairman Knowles opened up the Comprehensive Land Use Plan/Ordinances public hearing. Seeing as there were no questions, the public hearing was closed.

NEW BUSINESS: Ben Oleson, Zoning Administrator, gave a brief summary of the one written response that had come in; i.e. Al Lieffort, Douglas County Park Superintendent. Mr. Oleson said the only changes thus far to the comprehensive plan was to update the ALASD map and subsequently the future land use map. The commission chose to delay making a recommendation on the comprehensive plan until its June meeting.

A motion was made to make a recommendation to the town board to take over all of the ordinances from the county, with the exception of feedlot inspections. Roll Call: Hammerschmidt – yes, Steidl – yes, Knowles – yes. Motion carried.

Being no further business, Steidl, seconded by Hammerschmidt, made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Meeting adjourned at 8:45 p.m.

Respectfully submitted….

Bonnie Fulghum, Deputy Clerk
