September 28, 2015 Meeting Minutes

A regular meeting of the Planning Commission of Alexandria Township was held on the 28th day of September, 2015 at the Alexandria Township Conference Room, 324 Broadway.

Roll Call: Commission members present were Shad Steinbrecher, Larry Steidl, Bill Dropik, Jr. and Linda Dokken-McFann. Also present were Bonnie Fulghum, Deputy Clerk, and Ben Oleson, Township Zoning Administrator. As said members formed a quorum and the meeting was called to order by Chairman Steidl at 6:00 p.m.

Agenda: Steinbrecher, seconded by Dokken-McFann, made a motion to approve the agenda as written. Motion carried unanimously.

Minutes: Dropik, seconded by Steinbrecher, made a motion to approve the minutes of the 8/24/2015 meeting as written. Motion carried unanimously.

Public Hearing: none

Zoning Administrator’s Report: Oleson reported that the Transportation Committee had met regarding the road approval policy. They discussed including a requirement that a percentage of homes be constructed before the town’s taking over the road as well as the concept of building in phases. Oleson to conduct further research.

New Business: Deputy Clerk Fulghum provided a flyer on a symposium slated for October 7, 2015. The symposium is geared towards watershed planning and buffer implementation.

Old Business: The road approval policy was covered in the zoning administrator’s report.

Commissioner Dokken-McFann asked if the buffer is required on all waters. Oleson responded yes. He also stated that grass can be classified as a buffer (perennial vegetation). Individuals attending the symposium will report back to the commission at the next meeting information pertaining to the buffer initiative.

Adjournment: Being no further business Dokken-McFann, seconded by Steinbrecher, made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Meeting adjourned at 7:00 p.m.
